A heartbreaking video has surfaced showing a 68-year-old British woman, Dawn Otewell, in an emotional breakdown after her 31-year-old Nigerian husband, Bright Emokpae, allegedly disappeared after moving to the United Kingdom on a spouse visa.
According to reports, Dawn met Bright through a dating platform in 2021. She claimed that he initially provided her with a different name and age before later revealing his true identity. Watch The Video Here
The two eventually got married in Cyprus in March 2022, after which Bright returned to Nigeria to apply for a UK spouse visa.
The couple reportedly moved to the UK about a year later, but their relationship soon began experiencing difficulties. Dawn claimed that Bright became increasingly distant, regularly asked her for money and sent some of the funds to Nigeria.
The pair separated in October 2023 but later reconciled and continued their relationship.
However, according to reports, Bright allegedly disappeared after Dawn returned from a Caribbean cruise with her brother shortly before Christmas 2024. She said he has not returned since then and has blocked her on social media.
Dawn reportedly believes Bright could now be living in Scotland, where she suspects he may be running an online clothing business.
Speaking emotionally about the situation, Dawn said she believes her husband left her to avoid finalising their divorce.
“He’s done a runner and is refusing to sign the divorce papers because I believe he wants to cling on to his spouse visa,” she said while crying.
The woman also expressed fears about her belongings and what could happen to her estate if she dies before the divorce is completed, noting that she has not made a will.
“I feel I’m being used,” Dawn reportedly said.
She is now receiving assistance from Citizens Advice as she tries to locate Bright and have the divorce papers served to him.
The emotional video has since attracted attention online, with viewers expressing mixed reactions to the woman’s heartbreaking situation.
