Winnie Odinga has revealed that she has never returned to Bondo since the burial of her father, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Speaking about her grief and the period following Raila’s death, Winnie said returning to Bondo remained difficult because of the memories associated with her father’s final journey and burial.

Raila, who died in October 2025 while receiving medical treatment in India, was buried at his rural home in Bondo, Siaya County, in a ceremony attended by family, political leaders and thousands of mourners.

His death triggered an outpouring of grief across the country, with Kenyans gathering in different parts of the country to mourn the veteran opposition leader.

Winnie said the loss had profoundly affected the family, adding that the pain of losing her father remained difficult to process.
