Sad and disturbing footage showing the brutal killing of a Catholic sister has resurfaced online, leaving many people shocked by the level of violence captured in the incident.

The woman has been identified as Blessed Rani Maria, an Indian Catholic nun who dedicated her life to serving poor and vulnerable communities. According to historical accounts, Sister Rani Maria was born in 1954 in Kerala, India, and later joined the Franciscan Clarist congregation. Watch Video

She was eventually sent to Madhya Pradesh, where she worked among poor villagers and reportedly advocated for women and families facing exploitation and injustice. Her work brought hope to many people in the communities she served, but it also reportedly angered individuals who benefited from exploiting the poor.

On February 25, 1995, Sister Rani Maria was travelling by bus when she was attacked. The disturbing footage circulating online appears to show the moments surrounding the attack, with a crowd gathered as the nun is repeatedly stabbed.

Despite the horrifying attack, she is said to have repeatedly called out, “Jesus, Jesus,” during her final moments.

Her body was subsequently dragged outside the bus, according to accounts of the incident. The shocking nature of the attack has continued to draw attention decades later, with the footage leaving viewers emotional and raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her killing.

Sister Rani Maria’s story has since been remembered within the Catholic Church, particularly because of her dedication to helping poor and vulnerable people.
