Akothee and Omosh went their separate ways back in July, but they chose to make their breakup public on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Akothee disclosed on Sunday that she had been in therapy for the past two months, which confirmed that they had parted ways in July.
Sharp-eyed social media users had already noticed that Akothee had ceased posting about Omosh on her social media accounts since June. The last time she shared anything about him was in June 2023, as she reminisced about their wedding day. The couple had tied the knot on April 10, 2023.
Akothee had been deflecting inquiries about Omosh’s whereabouts whenever she was questioned. However, on October 1, 2023, she took to social media to officially announce that she and Omosh were no longer a couple.
In a heart-wrenching revelation, the singer detailed the emotional pain she endured following their breakup, confessing that she had sought therapy for two months to cope with it. Akothee revealed that her mental state had deteriorated so much after parting ways with Omosh that her initial counseling sessions with a professional therapist cost her Ksh50,000 per hour.
“I am currently in my second month of therapy. The trauma I experienced after discovering the truth and some unpleasant revelations left me shaken. I went days without food and sleep, constantly questioning and answering myself. It was an extremely heavy burden to bear,” Akothee wrote on social media.
She continued, “Some days, night would transition into day, and I’d find myself staring out the window with a blank mind. I’d experience unexplained shaking and remember that I still had responsibilities – my family, my empire, and the need to maintain a strong image for my fans. I’m grateful for my close friends, family, especially my children, my mother Beatrice Schnelli-Okello, and my best friend Nellyoaks, PLO, Vj Adams, who supported me through this.”
Akothee also shared how she recognized her emotional instability during therapy, realizing that she would frequently break down for no apparent reason. She was unaware of emotional abuse until she began therapy. She described her initial state of mind as so distressing that she had to pay Ksh50,000 for an hour-long therapy session with her first therapist. Her symptoms included trembling, loss of appetite, sleeplessness, panic attacks, and a lack of motivation to engage in activities she once enjoyed.
Comedian Butita expressed his disappointment at how he had flown to Akothee and Omosh’s wedding in a helicopter, only for the couple to split up so soon. He had hired a helicopter to attend their wedding, which had taken place at Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club on April 10, 2023.
“It’s unbelievable, I even flew in on a chopper, men can be so unreliable. I stand by my sister during this difficult time; she shouldn’t have to face this alone. We must find a way to undo this wedding,” lamented Butita.
