A section of Kikuyu Council of Elders yesterday, June 4, led a cleansing ceremony at the Mukurwe Wa Nyagathanga shrines a week after Speaker Justin Muturi was coronated as the GEMA Spokesperson.
The factions in company of Kiama Kia Ma group spent over 3 hours cleansing the shrine where they performed a sacrifice in an aim to sanctify the shrine.
The cultural priest, Dominic Njenga said that the aim of the ceremony was to cleanse the shrine from omens that could have been left there after Muturi’s coronation.
“We wanted to make the shrub e clean from any spiritual and cultural coronation. There were so many people that accessed tthe shrine and could have been unclean,”he said.
The elders also cleansed a Mugumo tree adding rthat the ceremony was meant to bring and unite elders from all over the mount Kenya region.
Notably, Murang’a County Governor, Mwangi Wa Iria who was in attendance dismissed Muturi’s coronation saying that the community has a Spokesperson already who is the president.
