” They Told Me To Worship Them, So That They can Pay Me The Ksh.19 M” Kioko Exposes Machakos County

Popular comedian and actor Sammy Kioko has come out publicly to expose the Director of Procurement for Machakos County, accusing him of arrogance and corruption in the handling of county payments.

According to Kioko, the county owes his sister’s company a total of Ksh 19 million for a project that was successfully completed two years ago. Speaking in a viral video, Kioko claimed that when he visited the county offices to follow up on the payment, the procurement director insulted him and allegedly demanded to be “worshipped” before releasing the money.

Kioko explained that the company in question, which was awarded the tender, is owned by his sister — and that they jointly funded the project by taking huge loans to ensure all materials were delivered and the work was completed on time. However, despite fulfilling all obligations, payment has allegedly been delayed for over two years.

He further revealed that when they approached the county for assistance, the director reportedly told them that they would not be paid because they had “tarnished the governor’s name” by speaking out publicly. Kioko also claimed the director threatened that even if they took the matter to court, it could take up to ten years for them to receive their payment.

The comedian’s emotional revelation has sparked massive reactions online, with many Kenyans sympathizing with him and calling for transparency in county procurement processes. Others urged the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) and the Office of the Auditor-General to investigate the matter to protect service providers from exploitation by rogue officials.

As of now, the Machakos County Government has not issued an official response to Kioko’s allegations.
