The latest poll carried out by Mt Kenya media house has revealed a huge gap between the leading candidate and the second-placed candidate ahead of the August 9 election

Mt Kenya netizens were asked to vote for their preferred candidate between Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga and United Democratic Alliance candidate William Ruto.

A total of sample 2630 people were used in the online research carried out by Kameme FM Radio.

Out of the 2630 people, 80 per cent voted for Deputy President William Ruto as their preferred president.

The ODM leader Raila Odinga managed to get 16 per cent of the votes

While 3.2 per cent of the sample picked neither Raila nor Ruto as their preferred presidential candidate.

With the research results above, DP Ruto would have managed to get at least 80 per cent of the total votes if elections were to be held today.

According to a section of political analysts, DP Ruto is supposed to get a bigger percentage of the Mt Kenya votes for him to stand a chance of beating Raila, especially if Raila maintains his traditional strongholds.

However, the chances of Raila maintaining his traditional strongholds such as Western, Nyanza, and Coast among others, have reduced due to the impact that DP Ruto has made in these regions since 2018.
DP Ruto has been moving to different parts of the country since the handshake between Raila and President Uhuru, marketing his hustler narrative which has since been rooted in many people’s hearts and minds.
