Outspoken Tanzanian activist and media personality Maria Sarungi Tsehai has issued a strong warning to President Samia Suluhu Hassan, urging her to stop blaming Kenyans for the recent chaos and unrest reported in Tanzania.
In a viral post shared on social media, Maria accused the Tanzanian government of trying to shift blame to outsiders instead of taking responsibility for internal problems. She claimed that the current political tension and alleged violence were orchestrated by individuals within the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party and security forces.
“Samia Suluhu wachana na Wakenya kabisa! Everybody knows that the chaos and massacre were created by CCM and your security forces led by your son Abdul together with Mafwele. Acha kutafuta visingizio — huu ugomvi wetu wa ndani wa kifamilia usiwasingizie majirani,” Maria wrote.
Her bold statement has sparked intense debate across East Africa, with many praising her courage for speaking out against the government. Others, however, cautioned that her claims are serious and should be investigated before drawing conclusions.
Maria Sarungi, a long-time advocate for democracy, human rights, and freedom of expression, has frequently clashed with Tanzanian authorities over issues of governance and political accountability.
Analysts say her comments reflect growing frustration among activists who feel that the government is deflecting blame instead of addressing the root causes of unrest.
As tension continues to rise, regional observers have urged dialogue and restraint, emphasizing the need for peace, accountability, and respect for neighboring nations in resolving Tanzania’s internal disputes.
