Standard Media Group Breaks Silence on Reports of syphilis Outbreak in the Newsroom

In the midst of swirling allegations suggesting a syphilis outbreak within the premises of Standard Media Group, the media house has vehemently denied these claims, dismissing them as unfounded rumors intended to tarnish its reputation.

Ken Mijungu, a prominent news anchor, directly addressed the issue during a recent news briefing, reassuring the public that the staff members are in good health and that there is no validity to the alleged outbreak.

Beyond refuting the rumors of a health crisis, Mijungu also took the opportunity to address other speculations surrounding the media house. He clarified that Standard Media Group remains fully operational, dispelling any notions of imminent closure or the company being put up for auction.

However, Mijungu’s statements extended beyond internal matters. He called upon government officials, specifically Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof Kithure Kindiki and Permanent Secretary Raymond Omollo, to investigate and take action against those responsible for spreading false information targeting the media house.

Furthermore, Mijungu criticized recent directives aimed at channeling all advertising to the national broadcaster, interpreting them as efforts to stifle media freedom. He urged the government to retract such directives, highlighting the vital role of independent voices in the media landscape.

The plea for government intervention comes at a time of escalating concerns regarding the proliferation of misinformation and deliberate attacks against media organizations.
