“Ni vizuri hii Tiktok ichunguzwe iwekewe masharti, wadada wanavua nguo kule wanabaki uchi” Magwaya reacts to proposed ban on Tiktok

TikTok, once seen as a platform for discovering new talent and sharing feel-good content, has recently been criticized for promoting depravity. Many Kenyans have taken to the app to showcase their debauchery, with hawk-eyed individuals noting the hours of the day when Tiktokers tend to engage in tasteless licentious activities.

These Tiktokers tend to avoid prime-time hours and instead go live in the wee hours of the morning to avoid violating TikTok’s Terms of Service. During these hours, some Tiktokers broadcast their own nudity, while others chew khat or perform indecent sexual acts. Some Tiktokers even go live to spread the ‘devil worship’ narrative, performing fiendish rituals live on air.

Female Tiktokers have been known to request financial support and share their phone numbers in exchange for nudity. Concerned individuals have taken to social media to express their worries, with many urging parents to be vigilant and monitor their children’s TikTok usage.

TikTok Lives disappear as soon as the session has ended and are not archived for later viewing, allowing the person going live to maintain total control over what they publish and who gets to see it. Some Tiktokers have made a notorious name for themselves by posting risqué content on their timeline and dragging their children into their rascality.

Veteran media personality Ciku Muiruri has publicly criticized TikTok for its dark turn and urged parents to be vigilant. Many fans have expressed their displeasure with the platform, with some even calling for TikTok to be uninstalled altogether.
