Kenyan artist Stevo SimpleBoy has recently faced off with Oga Obinna in a live camera confrontation after Stevo accused him of inflating views for his new track, “Namposti.”
In the encounter, Stevo clarified that his initial remarks were not intended to be taken seriously but were merely his personal opinions. He reassured Obinna, saying, “Si unajua sisi ni marafiki” (Don’t you know we are friends?).
Obinna, seeking to understand Stevo’s accusations, pressed for more details. Stevo reiterated that they form an unbeatable duo and if they collaborated, they could dominate the music industry. He responded to Obinna’s challenge, saying, “Nimekua nimeki kuona sana sasa Stevo nataka leo wanaume wapigane sema mbona umekua ukiongea kunihusu?” (I’ve seen this a lot, now Stevo, I want to know why you’ve been talking about me?).
Stevo replied, “Unajua wewe ni Oga na mimi ni mfalme wa msamiati, tukiungana pamoja, Kenya itakua mbele zaidi” (You know you’re Oga and I’m the king of vocabulary; if we unite, Kenya will move forward).
In a recent interview, Stevo had suggested that Obinna was purchasing views for his channel, doubting Obinna’s ability to generate high view counts organically. Stevo claimed, “Huyo amenunua views. Ata mimi ni celeb. Si ata mi nina market. Hio yake sio ukweli” (He has bought views. Even though I am a celebrity, I also have a market. His views are not real).
Despite these tensions, the two artists maintain a good relationship, with the confrontations serving more as a way to keep each other on their toes and challenge one another musically. Obinna even suggested that Stevo consider starting a new channel for his content, separate from his music uploads.
