Lawyer Ndegwa Njiru has sentationally claimed that Deputy President William Ruto might have settled to Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as his 2022 running mate.
This comes even as presidential candidates are facing a predicament that might make or break them in 2022 in picking their number two.
Talking during an interview, Njiru asserted that Ruto, who has intensely put his time and assets in keeping the vote-rich Mt. Kenya region under wraps for the past nine years, could choose Gachagua going by all signs.
“The deputy president seems to have settled for Rigathi Gachagua as his 2022 running mate,” he said.
The choice of Gachagua as running mate might destroy UDA, taking into account that Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata and his Meru’s, Mithika Linturi and Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki are generally scrambling for the running mate position.
Be that as it may, pundits say Gachagua is the best bet for the position. Aside from his financial muscle, he has a colossal following in the Mt Kenya region.
Both Raila and Ruto have convincing explanations behind picking their running mates from Mt Kenya, which, interestingly since the arrival of multipartism in 1992, has no solid presidential contender.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria and the Service Party pioneer Mwangi Kiunjuri, had offered themselves to be William Ruto’s running mate however the two have since fallen out with the 2022 presidential confident.
