Nandy Unveils an All-female Record Label, ‘The African Princess’

Singer Nandy(born Faustina Charles Mfinanga) has officially unveiled her own record label.

The Tanzanian songbird launched the label dubbed ‘The African Princess’ on Monday, January 16, 2023. She named it after her first studio album, which was released on November 9, 2018, by Epic Records.

Nandy said ‘The African Princess’ is an only-women record label aimed at nurturing female musicians from across Africa.

“Ninayo furaha kubwa kuileta kwenu Rasmi The African princess label…! 2023 lebel ambayo itahusisha wanawake tu! Kama tunavo ona industry ya watoto wa kike ni chache sana na uthubutu umekuwa ni mdogo so tunaimani na kuomba the African princess lebel itaongeza wingi wa vipaji vya watoto wa kike waliopo mtaaani wenye ndoto kubwa ya kuwa wanamziki,” she wrote in part.

This loosely translates to: (I officially bring to you The African Princess label, a record label that will involve only female artistes. As you are aware there are few female artistes in the industry. We hope that The African Princess will add more female talent with the dreams of becoming musicians)

Nandy expressed her delight in achieving the milestone of owning a record labelsaying it wass a dream come true. She called on her fans and music industry stakehlders to support her baby steps.

“Ni matumaini yangu makubwa kwa media, blogs, mashabiki mtatupokea kwa moyo mmja na kutupa support ya Hali na Mali Ili tuweze kufanikisha ndoto za mabinti walio mtaani…Shukrani za dhati kwa watu wote walio pokea hili huu ni mwanzo kaa karibu na mtandao wako maaana soon tutamzindua msanii wetu wa kwanza,”she added.

The African Princess record label is expected to unveil its first signee on Thursday, January 19.
