Inspekta Mwala : From ksh.150 per month to over 500K monthly salary

Inspector Mwala is a true testament to the adage, “Do not despise a humble beginning.” The Kenyan actor-cum-media personality has come a long way from earning a mere Ksh. 150 per month to becoming a household name and making millions in the entertainment industry.

Born in Taita Taveta County under the name Davis Mwabili, Inspector Mwala is 51 years old as of 2022. He began his acting career in 1993 and first appeared in popular shows like Vitimbi and Vioja Mahakamani that aired on Kenya Broadcasting Corporation. Despite being paid only Ksh. 150 a month, he continued to pursue his passion and in 2000 was allowed to air his own show, “Inspector Mwala,” on Citizen TV.

In his show, Inspector Mwala plays a no-nonsense police inspector at Kona Mbaya police station, working alongside other actors such as Morio the gardener and Sarah Otieno (Lavender). He has also mastered the art of infusing his acting with a Kikamba accent, leading many to believe he is from Ukambani. Additionally, Mwala is also a radio personality and brand ambassador for companies such as Naivas and Sona MoJa.

Mwala’s hard work has certainly paid off as he is reported to earn around Ksh. 300,000 per month from his acting, radio shows, hosting, and product marketing. He is also well-prepared for his retirement with a multi-million-dollar flat that brings in an estimated Ksh. 250,000 per month and a luxurious mansion in Kamulu where he resides with his family.

In conclusion, Inspector Mwala’s journey is a testament to the power of perseverance and determination. He has come a long way from his humble beginnings to becoming one of Kenya’s most successful and well-loved actors.
