Meet Mashirima Kapombe, a celebrated Kenyan multi lingual news anchor who keeps her fans gruelled on the screen due to her Swahili mastery and prowess in news presentation.
Mashirima Kapombe was born in Voi, Taita Taveta county but her parents later moved to Nyeri County where she schooled. After completing class eight, she joined Bishop Gatimu Ngandu girls where she excelled and joined Daystar University to study Bachelor of Arts in Communication.
Her career in journalism stated back at Daystar University where she secured a slot as a program presenter at the school Shine FM radio station.
Upon completing her studies, she joined Kenya Broadcasting Corporation as intern and after working with the state broadcaster for a couple of months, Nation Media Group spotted her talent and poached her.
At Nation Media Group, she was awarded a six months contract at Q FM but later on secured a newcaster role at NTV. She worked with Nation Media Group until 2013 when she was approached by Standard Media Group with a job offer at KTN.
While at KTN, she enjoyed a lot of airtime and built her name in the media sector. The airtime at KTN also set her journalism career on an upward trajectory.
Five years later after joining Standard Media Group, she was yet again approached by Royal Media Services with an irresistible lucrative deal which she whole heartedly accepted.
At Citizen TV Kenya, she graces our screens on Fridays for Nipashe Wikendi, hosts short segments of Longalonga and delivers news briefings on wednesday for sema na citizen.
Away from her media cereer, Mashirima Kapombe is a mother of one though she keeps her family life private with not so much in the limelight. She occasionally shares photos of her loved ones on her social platforms.
