Franklin Gogo, popularly known as MC Gogo, is one of Kenya’s most renowned MCs, especially in club hosting and event emceeing, including weddings.
Over the past two years, Gogo has seen a significant rise in his brand. His journey to success began during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Alongside his crew, Gogo engaged audiences with entertaining Facebook Live sessions, bringing joy during the lockdown.
Post-pandemic, Gogo’s fortunes improved as he started receiving numerous bookings, marking a transformative phase in his life. Despite achieving superstar status, Gogo remains down-to-earth and approachable. Remarkably, he continues to travel by matatu, highlighting his humility even in the face of fame.
In a recent interview with Tuko Extra, Gogo expressed his grounded perspective, emphasizing that despite his fame, he sees himself as a regular person. He has no reservations about using public transportation such as matatus or motorcycles (bodabodas). Gogo values interaction with people and consistently radiates positive energy.
Addressing the challenges of branding, Gogo acknowledged the difficulties he faced, including instances where promoters hesitated to compensate him and his crew adequately. Establishing a trusted brand, he noted, comes at a considerable cost, but he is pleased with the progress made so far.
Gogo revealed that he holds a degree in psychology. Raised by a single mother after his father’s untimely passing during his youth, Gogo’s life experiences have shaped his character and drive for success.
Expressing gratitude to Kenyans and his global fan base, Gogo credited their unwavering support for boosting his morale. Optimistic about the future, he envisions further elevation of his brand in 2023 and anticipates accumulating sufficient funds to purchase a brand-new car.
