A 23-year-old man has been arrested for attempting to sacrifice his 13-year-old nephew for money rituals.
It is reported that the man identified as Benjamin dragged his nephew, Listowel Adjei into a cab but area residents in a joint operation with the police busted him after a concerned neighbor reported to the authorities.
Confirming the incident, police Sergent, Benjamin Lartet speaking to Ghana News Agency on Monday, May 17 said that a source tipped them off and they arrested the man on his way to the shrine.
He noted that the police raid saw to the arrest of the man who in his possession had a bag containing a cutlass, a knife, red calico, a pot, cola nuts, cowries and Gh¢300.
“We had the description of the taxi and found the victim. We suspect that the ritual was to happen in the night. The suspect has since been arrested and during the interrogations, he admitted that he was going to perform the ritual so that he can get rich,” the Sergent said.
Adding;
“His plans were thwarted after a tip-off by a good neighbor and he is now in custody as plans are underway to take him to court.”
