Lucy Wamaitha: Emotions Run High During Burial of Woman Killed after Trip with Boss

The burial of the woman from Murang’a county who went missing during a work trip with her employer, only to be found dead, is ongoing.

It was an emotional moment as friends, family, and other guests arrived at the burial scene to give Lucy Wamaitha a dignified sendoff.

The 32-year-old woman went missing on Thursday, January 16 and was found dead three weeks later.

Her dismembered body remains were found in River Sagana, as confirmed following a DNA test.

“Today, we joined the family and friends of the late Lucy Wamaitha as she was laid to rest at her home in Pundamilia, Makuyu ward, Murang’a county. Lucy’s tragic story has deeply touched many hearts.

She went missing on 16th January in Embu while on a work-related assignment with a colleague. Later, her lifeless body was discovered under heartbreaking circumstances, with some parts missing. We stood with her loved ones today, offering our condolences and support during this incredibly painful and trying time,” Murang’a county woman rep Betty Maina penned.

While tributes were read, some could not hold back their tears, which freely flowed down their cheeks.

Wamaitha’s mum tried to be strong as she paid her last respect to her daughter, who died at a young age.

She was sandwiched between two women who consoled her on the fateful and heartbreaking day.

The body of Wamiatha was in a white casket with a portrait of the deceased in her graduation gown placed on top of the coffin.

There were beautiful flowers on the coffin, which beautified the casket placed in the middle of the venue.
