Linet Omusula:Meet the Kakamega Woman who Built Rental Houses After Working as a Househelp in Saudi Arabia

Linet Omusula, a resilient and ambitious woman from Kakamega, has defied expectations by purchasing two parcels of land and constructing rental houses, all financed through her earnings as a househelp in Saudi Arabia.

After dedicating a decade to working in the Middle East, Omusula has successfully transformed her life and built wealth despite facing numerous challenges.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Omusula recounted her remarkable journey. She revealed that she began her real estate investments in 2020, starting with two plots of land and gradually building rental units.

“I started with six rooms, the ones painted green and orange, which I built in 2020. Then the other one I started last year in June and completed this year September,” she explained.

Her unwavering hard work and determination are evident in her impressive accomplishments. Although she last visited home in 2017, Omusula plans to return permanently after constructing her own house.

Addressing widespread misconceptions about earnings from Saudi Arabia, she remarked, “I hear people say that the money from Saudi is ‘cursed,’ but I strongly disagree. With prayers, commitment, and discipline, one can achieve great things. Saudi has made me a proud person. It has lifted me from grass to grace.”

Omusula attributes her success to disciplined saving and prudent financial management. However, she openly acknowledges the challenges of working in Saudi Arabia.

“I work in a family of 10, and the challenges are immense, but I thank God for helping me overcome them. The house is very large, and I clean it, cook, iron, and handle many other chores. Sometimes, I face insults, but I choose to ignore them because I have a bigger goal,” she shared.

Despite these difficulties, Omusula appreciates her experience in Saudi Arabia, noting that it has been more rewarding compared to working as a househelp in Kenya. She firmly believes that househelps can achieve their dreams with determination and persistence.

“It is possible for a househelp to accomplish anything in life. Many people have achieved their goals through this job,” she affirmed.

Omusula’s inspiring story serves as a testament to the power of resilience, discipline, and hard work in overcoming adversity and achieving success.
