“Kumbe” Babu Alleges Why Alai Drew Pistol and Threatened to Shoot Him at a Nairobi Restaurant

Babu Owino has broken his silence following concerning reports of shocking incident where Robert Alai allegedly pulled out his gun and threatened to shoot him at a Nairobi Restaurant.

According to Babu Owino, the disturbing incident that almost cost him his life indeed happened. He revealed reason why Alai allegedly pulled out the gun and threatened to shoot him and it has emerged that Alai accused Babu of being behind social media attacks against his wife before drawing a pistol.

The Embakasi East MP claimed that after the accusations, he tried to calmly explain to Alai that he is not involved in the social media attacks against his wife. However Robert Alai allegedly became aggressive, pushed him, drew a pistol and struck him on the chest and jaw.

Babu stood his ground and calmed Alai who appeared to cool down for a while. They briefly sat with another person positioning himself between them. However, Alai again turned hostile, picked a glass of water from the table and poured it on his face. Babu claimed that, at that point, he made a decision to leave to avoid any further physical confrontation.

This happened at a popular restaurant along Lenana Road yesterday on Saturday at around 4 pm where Babu had driven himself upon the invitation of a senior clergyman. He revealed that after holding discussions for about 20 minutes, he stood to leave. However, he recognized a group of people known to him including Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai seated at an adjacent table. He proceeded to greet them and that is when the altercation which saw Alai draw a pistol happened.

Babu revealed that he reported the matter at Kilimani Police Station. He called on leaders to set a good example for the society by avoiding such physical confrontations which may lead to loss of lives.

“As leaders, we are expected to set an example for society. Some of us have a long way and know better. However, our calm should never be mistaken for fear. We will always stand our ground in defence of our lives, our dignity and the rule of law.” Babu Owino concluded his statement
