Kenya Airways is set to introduce free Wi-Fi across all its long-haul flights from the second quarter of 2027, in a move expected to significantly improve the experience for passengers travelling on international routes.

The airline’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, George Kamala, said the plan is part of efforts to improve onboard services and keep Kenya Airways competitive in the international aviation market.

The rollout is expected to cover the airline’s long-haul fleet, giving passengers the ability to remain connected while travelling to destinations outside Africa.

The move will be welcomed by travellers who rely on internet access for communication, entertainment, work and other activities during long flights.

Kenya Airways has been working on expanding its onboard connectivity, with the airline previously planning to introduce Wi-Fi on selected international routes before extending the service more widely.

The airline expects the free service to become available across its long-haul operations once the necessary equipment and systems have been installed.

The introduction of complimentary Wi-Fi will also bring Kenya Airways closer to other international carriers that have increasingly made inflight connectivity part of their passenger experience.

The airline is hoping that improved connectivity will make long journeys more convenient while strengthening its position as a leading carrier connecting Africa with destinations around the world.

The planned rollout is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2027, with passengers on long-haul flights set to benefit from the service once the installation programme is completed.
