Nairobi Senatorial aspirant Karen Nyamu is unapologetic about saying ‘Ruto ni chuma imesimama’.
During William Ruto’s campaign rally in Nairobi, Karen termed Ruto as the ‘Chuma imesimama’ and ‘Warembo like him’.
The comments sparked uproar on social media, with netizens accusing Karen Nyamu of using vulgar language in the rally.
Now, Karen Nyamu has told Mpasho what she meant by saying that.
In an exclusive interview, she said she will not entertain Raila Odinga ‘an old man’ being imposed on Kenyans.
“What I meant is that there are people sitting in hotels and choosing a presidential candidate for us…these Mt Kenya Foundation want us to elect Raila. There are people who do not follow politics, so when I talk of hotel rooms they think of sex.
My point was you can not sit in hotels…select a presidential candidate that we (Warembo) can see is old …yet tuko na kitu imesimama hapa…mtu young, energetic,” Karen said.
The mother of two said she is not apologetic with the comment, and would still refer to Ruto as ‘Chuma imesimama’.
“As much as it was a sexual connotation, the point was ‘Raila ni chuma mzee Ruto ni chuma imesimama’. I can repeat that anywhere again and again.”
In the rally, Karen Nyamu had said that ladies are behind William Ruto.
“Nimetumwa na warembo wote wa nchi hii, wanasema wale wanatupangia mzee pale kwa hoteli wawache madharau bana. Sisi tuko na chuma hapa, tunataka chuma ile imesimama…mnataka Chuma ya kusimamishwa kazi?”Karen Nyamu posed.
