Inooro TV breakfast Njoroge wa Githinji: I was Fired at K24 While My lovely Wife Was 4 Months Pregnant

Njoroge wa Githinji, a popular breakfast presenter at Inooro TV, faced a tough setback when he lost his job at Mediamax in 2013 while his wife was four months pregnant.

In a candid interview with Kikuyu Diaspora TV, Njoroge revealed that he had been employed at K24 for just eight months before he was let go. Reflecting on that fateful day, he recalled, “It’s important to clarify that I was sacked. I sensed it was coming through my connections. I knew by the next day, I would be one of those let go.”

After being fired, Njoroge described feeling as though his life had come to a halt. “I sat at Fig Tree, Ngara, reflecting on what my next steps should be,” he shared. “I hated life, and whenever I saw people smiling, I questioned their reasons. I regret ever questioning God for that.”

At the time, he was deeply concerned about how he would support his wife, who was expecting their child. However, instead of offering sympathy, his wife urged him to use the opportunity to go back to school.

Having already completed a Diploma in Public Relations, Njoroge decided to pursue a degree in journalism at Kenya Methodist University, all while taking on work at a quarry to provide for his family.

In a twist of fate, on the same day his wife gave birth, Njoroge received a call for an interview at QTV to work for Mwanaspoti. “I landed the job and had the chance to co-host alongside Joshua Makori. But the contract ended that December,” he explained. He also briefly worked in sports reporting at Ebru TV, continuing his part-time studies at Kemu.

“I excelled in sports reporting, and I knew that was my strength,” he said.

A friend later informed him about an opening at Inooro TV and encouraged him to apply. Though he had initially applied for the sports editor position, he was instead offered the role of TV host for the new show Inooro TV Breakfast. “I expressed my dislike for politics, but the station decided to pair me with a popular radio presenter,” he recounted.

Despite facing online criticism, with some claiming he might overshadow his co-host or wasn’t the best fit for the show, Njoroge focused on staying true to himself and creating his own space on air.

Recently celebrating six years with Inooro TV, Njoroge also shared that he is currently pursuing a master’s degree in digital journalism, further expanding his expertise.
