Nominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has heaped praise on Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, saying the outspoken legislator has built a strong personal following that could easily sustain a political party of his own.
Speaking during a media interview, Orwoba expressed confidence in Babu Owino’s influence and charisma, noting that his connection with the youth and fearless approach to politics have earned him massive grassroots support across the country.
“If Babu Owino leaves ODM and starts his own party, I can assure you that within two weeks, it would be full of members,” Orwoba said.
Her statement sparked debate among political observers, with some agreeing that Babu has a loyal base capable of fueling an independent political movement, while others argued that his success has been tied to the ODM brand and its leader, Raila Odinga.
Babu Owino, known for his fiery speeches and advocacy for education and youth empowerment, has not indicated any plans to quit ODM. However, Orwoba’s comments highlight his growing popularity and the perception that he is one of the few young leaders capable of shaping the future of Kenyan politics beyond party lines.
