Former Interior Cabinet Minister Fred Matiangi on Wednesday night was on the verge of being arrested. This is after a dozen of armed elite police officers raided and surrounded his Karen home. The officers attempted to arrest him but unfortunately the plan did not work out.
Immediately after the news surfaced, former prime minister Raila Odinga made way to Matiangi’s home. In addition, Azimio leaders and lawyers arrived at the scene ready to defend the former CS and stop the arrest.
Moments after things cooled off, the former CS revealed that he was well aware of the planned raid. Matiangi said that he had learnt of the raid earlier in the day. Despite the raid, no reason is yet to be issued on why Matiangi’s home was raided.
EACC officers denied being involved in the matter further adding questions why the former CS was raided. Matiangi’s lawyers vowed to deal with the matter legally should there be another arrest attempt.
