My name is Michael, and I come from Jinja, in the Busoga region of Uganda. I graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering several years ago, full of hope and dreams for a successful career. I imagined working on big construction projects, earning a decent salary, and supporting my family. But life didn’t turn out the way I expected. Despite my qualifications, I struggled to find a stable job in my field.
Months turned into years, and I ended up taking whatever work I could find just to survive. Eventually, I found myself cleaning toilets and doing menial labor just to pay rent and feed my family. Every day, I felt frustrated, humiliated, and hopeless. I asked myself why I had studied so hard only to end up in such a low-paying, degrading job.
