“Huyu ni Kijana Wetu””I haven’t given Babu Owino a call yet, but I’m trying to find him”-Oburu Odinga

Veteran politician Dr. Oburu Odinga has broken his silence amid growing reports of tension between him and Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino.

Speaking to the media, Oburu said he has not yet spoken directly to Babu but is actively trying to reach out to him through intermediaries.

“I haven’t given Babu Owino a call yet, but I’m trying to find him. I have dispatched some individuals to search for him on my behalf. I’m confident I’ll track him down so we can speak. The world hasn’t ended yet — I want to advise him to calm down,” Oburu stated.

His remarks come days after online exchanges and speculation suggested a possible rift between the youthful legislator and the Odinga family. Babu, a vocal supporter of the ODM party, has in recent days made headlines with statements interpreted by many as defiance toward the party leadership.

Oburu, who is Raila Odinga’s elder brother and a respected political elder in Nyanza, urged for restraint and dialogue, noting that misunderstandings in politics are common and should not lead to lasting divisions.

“Babu is a young, energetic leader with a bright future. Sometimes emotions run high in politics, but at the end of the day, we are all family,” he added.

The statement has been widely praised by ODM supporters, who view Oburu’s calm tone as an effort to restore unity within the party amid growing generational tensions.

Political analysts say Oburu’s approach could help defuse what was shaping up to be a public confrontation, emphasizing that ODM’s strength has always been in its ability to resolve internal differences through dialogue.

As of Thursday evening, Babu Owino had not publicly responded to Oburu’s latest remarks, but insiders say efforts are ongoing to bring the two leaders together for a private conversation aimed at reconciliation.
