Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has sparked controversy with a bold statement directed at Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, claiming that her political success is entirely tied to the influence of the late opposition leader, Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a political event, Amisi said, “Gladys Wanga cannot be re-elected as Governor, leave alone being appointed as a running mate. She has been winning because of Baba.” His remarks come amid growing political tension within the ODM party, following Raila Odinga’s passing and emerging debates about succession and leadership in the Nyanza region.
According to Amisi, many leaders who have enjoyed strong political support in Luo Nyanza owe their positions to Raila’s unmatched influence in the region. He suggested that without Raila’s endorsement, some politicians — including Wanga — would struggle to maintain their political footing.
The statement has triggered mixed reactions among ODM supporters and political observers. Some agree with Amisi, saying Raila’s blessing has always been a decisive factor in Luo Nyanza politics.
