Kenyan man George Achoka is set to break the Guinness World Record by giving 15,000 hugs in just 24 hours on November 29 at Archives Nairobi. The event, called Nairobi Hugfest 2024, seeks not only to set a world record but also to promote unity and positivity within the city.
Achoka, known for his ‘free hugs’ movement, first gained attention during the Reject Finance Bill protest, where he embraced over 1,000 people in just three hours. “We aim to change the stereotype that Nairobians are cold,” he shared in an interview with Citizen Digital, highlighting the warmth displayed even in tense moments.
Achoka believes that hugs can have a healing effect, spreading goodwill and uplifting spirits. Kenyans have shown strong support for his mission, as he moves closer to breaking the world record and spreading his message of love and connection.
