Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to travel to the United States for an extended tour as his Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) steps up preparations for the 2027 General Election.

Gachagua is scheduled to visit five American destinations between September and October, where he will engage Kenyans living in the diaspora and discuss his political agenda.

According to his itinerary, his first stop will be Spokane, Washington, where he is expected to spend six days from September 4 to September 10.

He will then travel to Portland, Oregon, for another six-day engagement running from September 10 to September 16.

The former Deputy President is scheduled to proceed to Kansas, where he will spend eight days before heading to Dallas, Texas. His stay in Dallas is planned to run from September 24 to October 1.

Gachagua’s final stop will be Boston, Massachusetts, where he is expected to hold diaspora meetings from October 1 to October 9 before returning to Kenya.

The tour comes as political parties and leaders intensify their mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

Gachagua has previously indicated that his US visit will provide an opportunity to engage Kenyans abroad and seek their views as he works on his political plans.

He will be accompanied by his wife, Pastor Dorcas Rigathi, during the trip.

The DCP leader has also said that being away from Kenya will give him an opportunity to make political decisions without what he described as external pressure from people at home.

His US tour is expected to strengthen his engagement with the Kenyan diaspora as he continues building support for his political ambitions ahead of the next General Election.

The visit comes at a time when diaspora voter registration has been growing, making Kenyans living abroad an increasingly important constituency in the 2027 political contest.
