Journalist Francis Gachuri has become one of Kenya’s most accomplished reporters by mastering the art of breaking and developing stories for the country. Despite facing obstacles in the media industry, Gachuri persevered to achieve success.

After completing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE), Gachuri worked as a tout to raise funds for his college studies. He was born on December 23, 1980, in Banana, Kiambu County, where he grew up before attending Karuri Primary School and Senior Chief Koinange High School for his early and secondary education respectively.

In 2001, Gachuri enrolled at Moi University to pursue a course in communications, and he graduated with his degree in 2005. He began his career as a political journalist at KBC in 2006 after graduation but soon moved to Royal Media Services in 2007 when Citizen called. He joined the station as a reporter, later becoming a senior reporter and senior political affairs editor, where he remained until his resignation on March 1, 2023, to take up a new position as Head of Communications at the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

During his time as a journalist, Gachuri interviewed senior political figures, including former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who recognized him from his work on television. Gachuri was also a part of the News Gang team at Citizen TV that discussed current political affairs in the country.

Gachuri is married and has three children, and his wedding took place in February 2009. It is rumored that he and his wife attended the same high school but did not date at the time. While his net worth remains unknown, Gachuri earned an estimated salary of Sh600K per month while at Royal Media Services. The details of his new salary in his new role have yet to be disclosed.
