First-Class Political Science University Graduate Turns to Mechanic After Years of being jobless

Abdul Mumin Dabone’s remarkable journey serves as a powerful testament to the unwavering determination and resilience exhibited by young individuals striving to carve their path in a challenging world.

Having graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Ghana, Abdul Mumin was confronted with the daunting specter of unemployment that haunts numerous recent graduates. However, rather than succumbing to the despair that often accompanies this predicament, he embarked on an unexpected and truly inspiring career change.

In 2021, Abdul Mumin graduated filled with the hope and ambition that characterize countless young people eager to make meaningful contributions to their communities and establish successful careers. Unfortunately, the harsh realities of the job market soon began to erode his initial enthusiasm, as he encountered immense difficulty securing a fulfilling position. This phase was marked by frustration and uncertainty, but Abdul Mumin remained resolute in his determination not to capitulate.

In March 2023, he made a bold and life-altering decision. Frustrated by the fruitless pursuit of traditional employment, he boldly ventured into a completely new career path—becoming an automotive mechanic.

“I am Luqman Abdul Mumin Dabone, a graduate of the University of Ghana with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. I graduated in 2021, and since then, my life has been a series of events that led me to officially start as an automotive mechanic on Monday, March 20, 2023. This is how it all unfolded, and I hope it inspires you to make positive changes in your life as well.”

Abdul Mumin’s journey was not without its share of challenges. He grappled with sleepless nights and profound introspection, contemplating his future and the most effective way to achieve his aspirations. He committed to being brutally honest with himself and making decisions that aligned with his long-term goals. He sought solace in prayer, hope, and surrendered to fate, relying on his faith as a guiding force.

A recurrent thought resonated clearly in his mind: “Learn a skill, just learn a skill.” Recognizing that acquiring a practical skill could be a pivotal step toward a brighter future, Abdul Mumin faced the challenge of selecting the right skill. Initially, he explored soft skills but soon realized they did not resonate with him.

Ultimately, he turned his attention to hard skills and rekindled his passion for mechanics—a dream he had shared with friends in the past. Taking a courageous leap of faith, Abdul Mumin resigned from his position as a secretary at a construction company and engaged in heartfelt discussions with his family. Together, they embraced his newfound career direction. He embarked on a journey into the realm of automotive mechanics with unwavering commitment, guided by his heart and passion.
