Kieni MP and Jubilee Director of Elections, Kanini Kega, has told the Mount Kenya people that the party has zero faith in Azimio candidate Raila Odinga despite of supporting his bid.
Addressing Nyeri occupants yesterday, Kega noted that President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Mt. Kenya region are just supporting Raila due to the the fact that they have no choice given the other choice is much worse.
He noticed that the area would need to pick the lesser evil given the reality that it was unlikely that they didn’t have a solid candidate who would mount a serious presidential campaign.
He mirrored the 2007 General Election, where the political scene changed when Raila’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) worked together with his adversary, Mwai Kibaki’s Party of National Unity (PNU) to frame the grand coalition government.
He added that the main way for the Mt Kenya region to get their interests was to include the numbers inside Parliament after the grand coalition government.
Other political leaders who attended the meeting include Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and wealthy businessman Peter Munga.
Kega’s comments come when the political scene is at a breaking point with leaders tossing their weight behind the candidates that they feel would get their interests.
This has seen major shifts and realignments as parties joined forces in order to form coalitions ahead of the General Election.
