Comedian Eddie Butita is set to join President William Ruto on an official state visit to the United States. Butita expressed his excitement about being included in President Ruto’s delegation to the US, where they will engage with President Joe Biden and other key stakeholders.
“Embarking on a journey to the USA today. Grateful to His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for extending the invitation to accompany him on the State Visit to the United States hosted by President Joe Biden,” Butita shared on his social media platforms.
Being part of the Head of State’s delegation signifies the involvement of the creative industry in the discussions slated for this trip,” he added.
During their visit on May 21, 2024, President Ruto is scheduled to meet various prominent figures from Hollywood, with Butita representing the Creative Economy.
Just recently, Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei hinted at President Ruto and his delegation’s plans to visit Tyler Perry Studios, a renowned film production company, where they will engage with Tyler Perry himself.
Sing’oei emphasized that such meetings with key figures in the film industry aim to foster stronger partnerships with Kenya’s own film industry.
“As part of this visit, the President will tour Tyler Perry Studios, engage with Tyler Perry, as well as other influential figures within the Hollywood ecosystem, facilitating discussions on collaborative efforts between Kenya and the film industry,” Sing’oei remarked.
Additionally, Ruto is expected to visit Atlanta for a significant diaspora event.
“This event will mark a pivotal moment in diaspora engagement. Considering the substantial diaspora community in the Atlanta area, there will be extensive discussions on diaspora investment, remittances, and avenues for diaspora involvement in our economy,” he added.
