Bishop Dinah Lisero: From Working as a House Girl at Age 12 To Owning 7 Churches

Bishop Dinah Lisero is a well-known gospel artist and preacher who oversees seven churches in different countries. She recently shared her story with the Sunday Standard, detailing the hardships she faced when her family and ex-husband rejected her during a difficult period.

Lisero was born into a large family of 12 children and lost five siblings early on. Her father’s death at a young age prevented her from attending school, leaving her illiterate with only Kiswahili as her spoken language. Her mother, a housewife, struggled to make ends meet, and Lisero began working as a house girl at the age of 12.

Working as a house girl was a tough experience, with Lisero facing ruthless treatment from her employer who paid her only Sh300 per month. Despite these challenges, she persevered until she turned 18 years old.

As an adult, Lisero entered into a troubled marriage with a man whom she thought loved her but who tormented her. Despite the difficulties, she stayed in the marriage and established her own church which thrived until her ex-husband began an affair with another woman. He then incited her church members to leave and accused her of using dark powers. This resulted in her losing many followers, and her ex-husband eventually took their children and moved them to an unknown location without informing her.

During this period, Lisero was rejected by her immediate family and suffered from depression and frustration. However, she never gave up on searching for her children and eventually found them with the help of a kind stranger who took her in and cared for her when she collapsed from exhaustion.

With the help of a lawyer, Lisero was able to reclaim custody of her children and later separated from her husband. She reconciled with her family, reopened her church, and met the love of her life, who took her children in as his own. Today, her church has seven branches in different countries, and her children are well-educated.

Through her experiences, Lisero learned to never give up and to remember that everyone has their day of being blessed. She also discovered that God is faithful, even in the face of adversity.
