Alipigwa Risasi 4:CCTV Captures Moments Before MP Charles Were Was Shot Dead

Detectives are closing in on a key suspect in the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were, who was gunned down in cold blood along Valley Road, Nairobi.

CCTV footage shows a man trailing the MP shortly before the attack. The suspect, later seen riding a sport bike, fired four close-range shots through the passenger window, hitting the MP in the chest and hand before escaping toward the CBD.

Earlier that evening, the MP left Parliament around 7:00 p.m., accompanied by his driver and bodyguard. After a stop near Wabera Street where the bodyguard deposited Ksh.20,000 into the MP’s phone at an M-Pesa shop, the vehicle continued its route.

Security footage shows a hooded man lurking near the car. The MP’s team rejoined traffic via Ralph Bunche Road, unaware they were being followed. When they halted at a red light on Valley Road at 7:40 p.m., the killer struck with deadly precision.

The MP’s bodyguard, caught off guard, tried to respond but the attackers had already vanished. He helped rush the injured MP to Nairobi Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The bodyguard and driver were unharmed.

Police recovered three spent cartridges at the scene. Investigations, led by homicide chief Martin Nyuguto, have extended to Kasipul as authorities explore possible political motives. So far, three people have been questioned, including the MP’s driver, bodyguard, and the M-Pesa agent.
