For a long time, I believed that hard work was enough to change a person’s life. I used to wake up every morning before sunrise, determined to chase opportunities and build a better future. But despite my effort, my life remained stuck in the same painful cycle. My name is Paul, and I live in Mukono, Uganda. I share my story because I know I am not the only one who has worked tirelessly yet gained nothing in return.
My struggle began shortly after I left my previous job. I expected to find something new quickly because I had experience and good recommendations. But every opportunity slipped away from me at the very last minute. Sometimes, an employer would promise to call and never do so. Other times, I got shortlisted but never selected.
