RUTH MATETE’s 63-year-old father says can’t date women in their 40s and 50s – ‘They are too old for me’.

Veteran Kenyan actor Abel Amunga has candidly opened up about his struggles with finding love at his age, admitting that dating women within his age bracket has not been easy.

Amunga, who is 58 years old, revealed that although he has been single for years following the end of his marriage, he has tried to find a partner but often faces challenges when it comes to women in their 40s and 50s.

According to him, many women in that age group see him as a “young man” because of how well he has maintained his physique.

“Age is a complication because somehow the ladies who match me should be in their 40s and 50s, but women in that age group are too old for me. They call me ‘young man’ and dating a 40-year-old woman is hard,” Amunga said in a recent interview.

Looking for Companionship, Not Children

Despite the challenges, the seasoned actor said he still hopes to find a wife. However, he clarified that his desire to settle down at this stage in life is not driven by the need to have children but by companionship.

“I am 58 years old now. At some point, I would definitely need someone to settle down with, someone I can sit down with and tell stories about my failures and success—just for companionship and not necessarily having kids,” he explained.

Amunga, who is the father of former TPF contestant Ruth Matete, emphasized that he values emotional connection and companionship more than starting a new family at his age.

His revelation has sparked conversations online about age, relationships, and the challenges men and women face when seeking love later in life.
