Disgraced former TV journalist Jacque Maribe has finally addressed the long-running speculation about her alleged romantic relationship with Dennis Itumbi, the Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Office of the President.
Speaking on the Off The Grid podcast, Maribe opened up about the rumors that have trailed her for years, often painting her and Itumbi as more than friends. She pointed out how deeply the narrative has taken root, even influencing Google search results.
“If you search ‘Dennis Itumbi wife,’ it’s only Jacque,” she joked, acknowledging how far the perception has spread online.
The two have repeatedly dismissed the rumors, often laughing them off with playful banter. Maribe revealed that they sometimes joke about embracing the so-called “online marriage” if both remain single into old age.
“We already have in-laws on social media,” she quipped, before cheekily adding, “Oh, by the way, my child is his. Yeah, I forgot to mention.” Her tone made it clear she was teasing.
Itumbi has also addressed the speculation, particularly surrounding a viral photo of him kissing Maribe—an image that fueled much of the gossip. He clarified that the moment was part of a party game, truth or bottles, where he chose a dare over paying a Ksh 50,000 penalty.
“I wish it were true,” he said half-jokingly, “because maybe then the rumors would’ve stopped.”
Despite years of speculation, both insist their connection is built on loyalty and friendship rather than romance. “She stood with me in court. I stood with her during her own legal battles,” Itumbi explained, underscoring the bond they share.
For now, the mystery remains part of their public personas—an ongoing saga that blends rumor, humor, and unwavering friendship.
