A TikTok personality from Kenya named Daddy’s Girl is rapidly gaining popularity among Kenyans online. She entertains her followers with her attempts at pronouncing various words. Her latest TikTok live featured ‘The Professor’ from the popular Netflix series, Money Heist. During the live stream, she sang the theme song of the show, Bella Ciao, with a Kikuyu accent, which made The Professor burst into laughter.
The Bella Ciao lyrics are about a partisan who is saying farewell to his lover as he knows that death is imminent. The phrase “ciao bella” is a friendly and familiar way of saying hello or goodbye to a woman, as opposed to a group. The masculine version of the expression is “ciao bello.” The Professor character is portrayed by Ajay Jethi, an Indian actor based in Spain who initially came to Barcelona as a construction worker on a work visa.
